If you look closely at Kenny's picture, you will see two tie rods with
ball joints on each end. These require manual oiling. Also there is a
small sealed bearing that runs in the V slot of the swash plate lever.
Don't forget that extra long zerk fitting on the pedal pivot, too.

kak, I had this exact problem on my JD4300 HST a year or so ago. It got to the point where it was unsafe to use. My neighbor even ended up driving it through his father-in-laws utility shed. His father-in-law was thankful though, because he was able to get insurance to cover the incident and also got a bigger building!
Anyway, I had tried the lube idea and gained little if any. It was too late. I had to crawl under and disasemble the whole assebly shown earlier in this thread. There is actually a spindle with a plastic or teflon tube / bushing. It was a bear to get apart. Rust had built up under the bushing and forced it out against the outside steel tube causing the problem. I purchased new plastic bushings (cheap) and cleaned every thing up, greased and reassembled. Works as new now. I keep it greased with it's fitting and hopefully it won't ocur again. If it does I know it is a realative easy and inexspensive fix. Let me know if this helps.

Actually after looking closer to the diagram earlier in this thread, it isn't the correct one for my tractor anyway. The 4300 HST looks more like this:
I am pretty sure the bushings that I replaced were items 54. Basically it is like a shaft inside a pipe with the bushings between. I probably didn't have to replace the bushings, just clean it all up and reasseble, but they were so cheap (a couple bucks) it just made sense.

I am surprised you replaced your worn plastic ones with new plastic one. why not replace it with bronze bushings ? granted, it will take some thinking and checking a few hardware stores. On my kubota, I took my HST shaft off last week to clean as it keeps sticking a little. I think its a common issue with HST tractors. I have a zerk above the floor board to lube the HST shaft, but from your parts picture, I don't see one.

The plastic ones are not much thicker than paper, shaped like a tube with a shoulder on one end. I supose I could have made them, but it wouldn't have been easy as thin walled as they are and not sure what I would have gained. The grease fitting is under the floor board about in the middle of the tube. I actually just greased mine about an hour ago because I have my tractor in the garage doing PM's. The grease did come out both ends so looks like everything is getting grease properly.

I have had mine apart, too, and decided not to replace the shaft or
plastic bushings, esp as mine was a little loose, not tight. Owners
neglect the shaft zerk, which is not good.
There are many parts of the HST pedal/swash plate control that can
get gummed up or corroded to interfere with smooth operation. I have
spent hours refurbishing mine. If anything, it snaps back to neutral
a little too quickly for my taste, even though the shock absorber is working.
BTW, the brake pivot shaft that supports all 3 brake pedals uses these
thin plastic bushings, too. A real pain to assemble.....keep them greased!

I just repaired mine. I thought it as the bushings too, but after watching the mechanism operate through its range, I found that the Pivot (P/N AM118908) was worn and allowed the cam follower to cock sideways and the the follower bearing to slide off of the cam and bind the mechanism's return.
I replaced all the bushings, follower bearing, and peddle end links too. The end links required some trial and error length adjustment before there was full range of movement forward and reverse.
The pivot is easy to replace from beneath. I had the deck off, so I don't know how hard the rest of the assembly is to R&R from beneath.
