I have been considering all the compact 4wd alternatives and am strongly considering a used 1999 model JD 4300 4wd hydrostatic with a 430 loader, R4 tires & folding ROPS with only 300 hours. The price I have got is $17500 from a Delaware dealer with no sales tax. The best price I could get on a new one in PA was $19600 plus 6% sales tax. Is this price good ?? Also is there anything I should be looking out for with this model ?? I am not too keen on the fiberglass fenders and floor boards. Do they hold up ?? What is the scarfing issue with the front axles ?? How do I know if the model I am looking at has had this item fixed ? Any help is greatly appreciated.

ask the dealer to show you the service records on the tractor, if he has none , ask for the name and tel# of the previous owner. If he can't show that either, i would walk away.

Just for info, the floorboards on the 4xxx are not composite like the fenders and hood. The floorboards are steel.
