Your profile says you just bought a house with 10 acres. Unless that 10 acres is really rugged and needs some pretty heavy work, I'd say the 4310 is a better choice. Of course, if you plan on having 5 acres in cultivation as a big garden, you'll appreciate that 12-speed for ground engaging implements. So again, I would say the JD for all the normal work around a 10 acre ranchette. For more heavy work with tillage included, the TC35DA would be the best choice, but you'd probably have a rough time deciding on ag tires or industrials if finish mowing is in your plans. If you can give us a list of the top 85% of jobs you plan to do, I bet you'd get some very specific quality advice from the guys here.

I truely am fortunate to find this site before purchase. Thanks for all the advice. Here is a list of the average jobs I will be doing. I will say that I am leaning towards the green end of the spectrum. Plus, my dad has a 790. I probrably should try and stay on his good side. Plus, he has a few implements I may want to borrow. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Mowing pasture
Moving manure
2 acre garden
go cart track Upkeep grading
snow removal

thanks again

Go with the tractor that fits and the dealer that helps. My local Deere dealer supports me well and I bought mine used from 200miles away! I hear a lot about liking hydro with a loader. I was at the dealer today getting fluids and filters and they were saying the opposite. They thought that with a lot of loader work you may get slippage with the hydro....not my words but that's what they said. I do quite a bit of loader work (likely over 150-200 hours dedicated loader work with my current 4300). I love the synch-reverser for this kind of work and have never missed a hydro (OK, in honesty I have not used hydro much). I brush-hog about 5 acres now...used to do 9; I plow/disc about 2-3 acres, use the hoe for various projects. I have never missed a hydro...OK maybe I am stuck in the middle ages here....but don't decide just because of the "ease" of hydro. A few hours on a tractor and you will barely notice that you are shifting. Pick the tractor that fits and does all you need...transmission option is really just one small factor. OK, OK, I know I am rambling... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I agree wjdmar, you will find most new tractors compared to older tractors shift very easily, from fwd to reverse and from low to hi.Hydro is easiest and if there are many different operators probably a good choice, drive a few and see what you prefer. Good luck and enjoy the buying experience.....Lloyd in CT

bingbling,

If you want a gear model, you can always chose the power reverser on the JD which I like /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

But the best way to decide between the two is to go take them for rides and see which one you like best. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Good luck and keep us posted with some pictures after you decide /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm back and I have narrowed it down a little bit. I've decided on a hydro transmission. I drove both and like the idea of having a hand free. So now it's narrowed down to 4310 or tc35da both with hydro. I've received a price 500 more on the new holland but it's a lot more machine. I should have my decision by the weekend. Thanks again for your input.

BingBling,
Echoing what others have said, go with a dealer that you can work with.
I really enjoy my 4310 eHydro. Makes it so anyone in the family can become relatively competent driving.
When we are doing a family project, like splitting wood or whatever. Often we will have one or two loading wood in the bucket, and one or two stacking at the other end, and one person doing the driving back and forth. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Kind of fun when all the nieces and nephews are available to work.
You can look in the build it yourself forum to see the grapple I recently built for my 4310.

Why did you choose the NH over the Deere? Just curious.

bingbling

I'm sure you will be happy with your choice, both tractors are good ones.

When you take delivery, take some pic's and post them for us to see.
