Boseman,
I looked at both JD and Kubota before I purchased a new Kubota 3430. I liked the simplicity of the Kubota; cruise control, hydraulics, PTO, etc. The electronic gizmos of the JD were too complicated and just looked like trouble for the future.
Regarding the brake pedals, I actually like the Kubota system better. The pedals are on the right side where all past tractors I have operated have them located. For the occasional time I have ever needed to use the brakes to assist in turning, I just set the manual cruise level for operating speed and use the brakes just as I have on my old tractors. It's simple and a natural motion.
The extendable links on the 3 PT lift arms are also a must. The JD quikhitch is OK but expensive and does not work with all attachments.
In the end your comfort level and "pride in ownership" should drive your decision. Dealer also is very important.
Good luck!
