LOOKING FOR JD
Hey everyone, I just became a member. I am about to take that giant leep, and I need help. I own 15 acres and need a tractor that will help me keep the weeds down, till the large garden, maintain the fences (post hole digger), and build and maintain a decent motocross track. Following is what I have dug up so far:
1998 NH 1630, 1000 hours, loader for $11k, located just down the road.
2000 Kubota 2710, 200 hours, post hole digger, blade, loader for $12,800, located 6 hours away.
1999 John Deere 4400, 1200 hours, loader for $13,500, located 8 hours away.

I obviously like the 4400. Mama will not let me spend more than $15k. Are any of these the one I am looking for?

Are these tractors being sold by a dealer that could also service them? Do you have local dealers that could service any of them?

The NH is from a rental co, the Kubota is by owner, and the JD is from a dealer. All three brands are sold new locally.

The Kubota has almost every attachment you'll need except a mower (none had a mower) plus it's got enough hp to handle the job and the least number of hours. It might also still have a warranty. Do you have a way to get it home?

Since the 4400 is your favorite, what are the spces on it? That price could be a bit steep, for 1200 hours.

The 2710 with only 200 hours stands out, especially if it has been well maintained by the owner.

Personally would never buy a rental, especially after everything I've heard on this site.

There's a huge leap from a 2710 to a 4400, with valid reasons for either choice. The Kubota has more implements, but if you need the mass of the larger tractor and it's been well cared for it might make sense to get the monster and save up for implements. Which dealer's service department do you feel better about?

Thanks for the input. I have an 18' car hauler and have made the trip several times in the past. Do you think 2710 has the power I will need?

The 4400 has Sync Reverse and bar tires. What price would you pay for 1200 hours? I heard that the 2710 overheats quite often in dusty conditions.

I have no experience with either dealer. I have heard that the Kubota dealer is high priced, but that is not an issue to me for good service. The JD dealer is huge. They have six branches accross the state. Is there an objective source for dealer service ratings?
