A Happy, Healthy New Year everyone.

I have spent 6.5 hours during the past weekend blowing snow off the private road and three driveways. I held my breath because I was afraid the previously stated problem would occur again. Happily nothing adverse happened. Knock on wood maybe it was just a couple of rocks getting drawn into the snowblower and getting by the auger but jambing the impeller. At any rate the problem did not appear during the last storm so I am really pleased. Thanks everyone for your replies.

Glad to hear your problem hasn't happened again. I had the exact same thing happen to me a few days ago on my 59 inch blower. I hit the pto switch before the engine died completely. Unfortunately I wasn't as lucky as you. Check out this link for a look.

I believe mine ended up being damaged because the bolt through the impeller shaft had fallen out and only the key in the shaft was holding it.

I'm posting this mainly so other JD owners searching for this problem can find my post in Parts/Repairs more easily. Hope that's OK.
