JD 4410
Title explains d.s. mistake. 4410 will not start. Fuse box no relay indicator lights are on. All fuses appear good, lights work, dash lights, etc. work. Heat plug light indicator comes on. Turn ignition switch hear one click from starter/solenoid and all power is killed. Disconnect battery and lights, etc. back on. Does the same if diodes are in or out.

Voltage regulator? Fuel solenoid? Main control board - not sure where is located but working on? Starter or solenoid?

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

did you remove the fuses and check them with a meter? sometimes a fuse looks good. but is open under the cap where you can't see .

I wouldn't think a fuze would care which way the current is polarized. Diodes, too. They pass directional current, or they don't. Now a solenoid or relay intending to slam one way is now going to try the other direction and may be stuck in its cylinder or case from going "where no man has gone before...".

not necessarily the case . the system as a whole is polarized. so hooking it up backwards can create a short. Diodes are polarized to work opposite to filter out noise . but not carry current in the wrong direction.

Thanks for the replies. Will recheck fuses, looking on line for relays.

My guess is connecting battery backwards would damage the most sensitive things, module or computer circuitry.

Once all power is killed...does turning the key off and back on reset it (until the starter is switched) ?

What does the machine do (how does it act) when one of the safety switches is open ??

Hello
No it does not, have to disconnect battery?

Are you working with a new good battery?
I've seen weak batteries hooked up backwards and it killed the battery. New battery everything ran fine.

Checking fuses with a meter can be problematic. Occasionally when the fuse blows the “melted” metal can ionize on the plastic surface and pass some current. Some meters are so sensitive that they will read good. Always use a test light to check fuses.
