Well today I was working on an AC system with a high head pressure and low side was freezing the coil and decided the expansion valve was sticking and was very slow to equalize when turned off. So whether your problem was a dirty condensor is debateable since I would think the mechanic would have a hard time knowing if the expansion valve is functioning properly without first fixing the compressor.

Steve

I think they are guessing myself. Ends up they broke some line up in the roof trying to pul it apart. Said it was rusted from condensation. So, new compressor, expansion valve, and I am starting to loose mind - I guess the condenser is up top. Or is that the evaporator... I thought the condenser was up front and the evaporator was in the roof. Regardless, they say I should have it by the weekend...

Darin,.....you prolly been there, done that BUT,...sometimes its the simple things? How bout the ceiling switch in the cab, is it in the on position? How bout the switch itself,..faulty, wire off? Sorry its all I can think of at the moment. How bout the cabin air filter up there behind you? Seems to me you cleaned it not long ago,...but I'm wondering if there is a cut off switch if it is plugged? (Like the engine filter)(Just guessing).

Good luck to you, it sure can be hot without it!

Switch is fine - clutch engages and disengages.
Filter is new

Think it is the compressor. I am used to compressors making all kinds of noise when they fail. I was thinking expansion valve.

Oh well - it is under warranty and they will get it sorted out.

I just don't like getting other stuff "fixed" when it is not broken. Maintenance induced outage is the usual out come.

OK, gotcha,....thanks for the reply. Let us know what it was.
Best wishes!

Darin,
The mechanic was most likey trying to remove the expansion valve from the evaporator coil mounted in the roof. You are correct in that the condensor coil and compressor are up front. The problem is engine mechanics are not necessarily AC mechanics.

Well - the service guy told me they found a crack in the condenser. They probably jacked it up trying to get it apart.

Sounds like new compressor, drier, condensor, expansion valve. I don't really care what they had to replace. I want my tractor fixed. It is not even a year old and I bought it to rake hay mostly. Last weekend we had to rake with no AC...man, what a killer. We did around 4 hours in it. We used the 5525 the other times. I should have it back tomorrow morning.
