Well today I was working on an AC system with a high head pressure and low side was freezing the coil and decided the expansion valve was sticking and was very slow to equalize when turned off. So whether your problem was a dirty condensor is debateable since I would think the mechanic would have a hard time knowing if the expansion valve is functioning properly without first fixing the compressor.

I think they are guessing myself. Ends up they broke some line up in the roof trying to pul it apart. Said it was rusted from condensation. So, new compressor, expansion valve, and I am starting to loose mind - I guess the condenser is up top. Or is that the evaporator... I thought the condenser was up front and the evaporator was in the roof. Regardless, they say I should have it by the weekend...
