Help. After a couple of months, I have narrowed down my choices to the JD 4520 or the NH TC55DA. Price is close between the two. Will have FEL, woods mower and finish mower. Property is 42 acres, some of it hilly. Will use tractor for field mowing and grooming, FEL for mulching, moving gravel, etc. Tractor will not be used for planting or other farming.

Any help in making the final decision would be appreciated?

Not much help here, they are very close!!!

The biggest thing I see is that the John Deere 4024T engine used in all the TWENTY series is almost the same engin (just tuning makes the difference...)

In this case the 4024T gives you 53.1 hp (gross) out of 2.44L, vs. the NH's 55 from 2.2L. Less Hp from a bigger engine (which is also turbocharged...) Sure shows how the Deere engine is a little detuned... In real life, it is probably hard to feel that little difference in Hp, although the torque may be a different story.

Are you looking at reverser or hydro? There are some differences there, as Deere has the e features on the transmission, and NH has the two sped feature. Both are great systems.

Both are great machines.

Haven't made up my mind on the reverser or the hydro. Wife is old-fashioned and thinks she would rather shift that use hydro feature (Pick-up truck is manual at her request).

Both have great reversers.

But, a hydro is different than an automatic on a car. It is good to try both before settling on one.

Besides are you gonna let her use YOUR tractor? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I guess based on what I know of the two tractors I would go with the one that you feel has the best dealer support for after the sale. Neither one is good if the dealer doesn't back it up. Get to know the two dealers real well and then make up your mind.

I've been married long enough to know better than to tell her that she can't use it! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So its settled, you get the hydro so your wife won't want to use it! That'd be a first...

Just kidding, btw, my wife and I both have a blast using ours....

The TC55DA has a much larger loader and 3 point hitch capacity. The larger FEL capacity may make a difference when unloading a pallet of stones or brick or when digging out brush/trees. Also the TC55DA can be fitted with a 9' hoe. I've been comparing the two myself....It's time to go out and by another lottery ticket!

Ended up buying the NH TC45DA w/FEL & 7' finish mower (the NH dealer treated me right). For my purposes, the TC55DA was overkill. Love my new tractor.
