I had the same issue with the 455 I purchased used with 1600 hrs where it would roll backwards. I didn't think it was the neutral adjustment either and stayed focused on the linkage assuming the problem was there, mostly because watching it pedals it looked like it was slow to return. Finally one day I printed off the section of the manual describing the adjustment and went to it. Took about 20 minutes- jacked up the lowered onto 2 jack stands, removed the right rear tire, and started the engine. Making small adjustments and locking the jam nut each time I got mine dialed in to zero rolling now. Should have done it right when I got it.
