JD 455 Mid PTO won't engage

Mower and mid pto was working earlier in the week when I used it last. Today I went to use the mower pull the lever the mower turns a little (1/4 to ｽ a turn of the mower pulleys) then nothing. Turned off/on again and the mower spun like normal, I mowed a little. I needed to stop for a hour or so turning off the mower completely. When I went to start mowing again the PTO wouldn稚 spin the mower again but this time I couldn稚 get it working, still get the ｼ to ｽ turn on the mower pulleys

Anyone have an idea on where to look

There is a solenold valve on the left rear of the tractor you might check the wiring to see if you have
12 volts to it with the tractor running,also check the seat switch it will also shut down ( turn off the mower)

solenoid is good and I'm getting 12V to it. I even replaced the solenoid to confirm it was good. Seat switch is working. Blades start to move as before but they don't turn much.

Still needing help if anyone has any more input.

Could be the RIO switch, reverse implement operation switch. That's hooked to the reverse pedal, turns the deck off in reverse if the tractor is new enough. Or it could be the switch itself

Try to grease it or your wiring is faulty

1200 hours on the machine. Dropped off at the dealer on Monday. No word yet but I'm hoping a new pump isn't the fix.

The pot is completely mechanically driven. It only has a hydraulic clutch, so it the pump is replaced you would of noticed no hydro drive pressure or no steering and not hydraulic functions.

My 425 had the same issue. I found a faulty ignition module, as there is a relay on this circuit board that activates the PTO. Hope you get fixed soon, jd3x.

Well they are telling me that the PTO clutch needs to be replaced. Picked up the tractor and a repair manual I'm going to pull it apart and replace the clutch myself.
