JD 455 pto speed?

My dad has a 455 garden tractor and a 445 rotary tiller (54" pto driven). I have a Kubota BX2200 and am hoping to find a pto adapter that will let me hook up the pto shaft to my tractor. My tractor has a regular male end on the tractor, while the tiller's pto shaft also has a male end.

My question is does anyone know the pto speed of this tiller? I know some cat. 0 equipment runs at 1000 rpm. My tractor runs at 540 rpm. I want to make sure I'm not wasting my time finding an adapter if the speeds don't match. Thanks.

The 455 PTO speed is 540. Go to a farm supply store and find a female PTO adapter.

Thanks Kevin, that's what I wanted to hear. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I'm pretty sure I saw a female adapter at out local Rural King.

After searching Rural King for a female to female adapter, and the local JD dealer for either an adapter or the tractor end of a pto shaft that would work.....I came up empty. Does anyone know of a place online that sells adapters?

Why not just put a female end on the tiller? You should be able to find one at a farm store. It may involve replacing a u-joint, which can be exciting.

I had the same 450 tiller drive shaft problem when I traded my 455 for an X495. I ended up having to buy an entirely new drive shaft from my local JD dealer. I hope you have better luck finding an adapter than I did, the drive shaft with a clutch was about $300.

Pretty sure the part you are looking for is BM17757. It is a male stub on both ends, which fits into your tractor and then will hook up to normal 540 PTO implements.
