JD 455 pto speed?

My dad has a 455 garden tractor and a 445 rotary tiller (54" pto driven). I have a Kubota BX2200 and am hoping to find a pto adapter that will let me hook up the pto shaft to my tractor. My tractor has a regular male end on the tractor, while the tiller's pto shaft also has a male end.

My question is does anyone know the pto speed of this tiller? I know some cat. 0 equipment runs at 1000 rpm. My tractor runs at 540 rpm. I want to make sure I'm not wasting my time finding an adapter if the speeds don't match. Thanks.

The PTO on the older 400 series tractors was a 540 pto,
but you can see they had the driveshaft setup different, with the tractor having the female end. They did sell a stub shaft,
which would allow a normal shaft to hook up, but in your case it sounds like you are going to need the front PTO shaft on the tiller to hook up to your tractor. Other than that, I think you should be ok, and the tiller should work well for you.

The rear PTO speed on the older 400, 420 and 430 model garden tractors was 2000 RPM and on the 425, 445 and 455 it was 540. You are correct about the female portion on the tractor PTO.

He should be able to get a new PTO shaft to match his tractor and be OK on that tiller

After searching Rural King for a female to female adapter, and the local JD dealer for either an adapter or the tractor end of a pto shaft that would work.....I came up empty. Does anyone know of a place online that sells adapters?

It's not something I do on a regular basis, and I was desperate. I wanted to make sure I hit all the places where people might know something. There are only certain places on this board that I visit on a regular basis, and I'd guess that others do the same.
