Sorry I got the impression from the post it was running fine until you put it into gear and released the clutch and then it died.changed fuel filter 6 months ago. its running fine just can't move it.
You do know that the fuel demand increases when you shift into gear and try to move the tractor don't you? If the fuel delivery is not adequate, the engine will die. Am I'm I missing your symptoms?
Doesn't matter when you changed the fuel filter. Blockages can occur at the tank outlet, in the passages of the filter head, a pinched fuel line, etc.
By all means check the electrics to the fuel shut off solenoid but don't neglect other possible causes.
