Thanks to all of you the tractor is running GREAT and it was the screen. Full of what appears to be organic sludge. Never has run smoother. I still don't know where all the hyd fluid came out from since it only took about 7 gallons and I drained over 9 but who cares! Now, what was the reason that I wanted to use the tractor anyway?

Yes, this site is fabulous and I plan to visit more often. What a great group to drop what they are doing and offer advice to me. I was so frustrated with the normally reliable tractor that my rage must have shown - my wife told me to call Rancher's Tractor and get a service call on site (that is at least a grand) but with all of your help we are running smooooooth and strong. Organic sludge...?? Hmm.

I really expected to hear that you had a collection of fine metallic particles that had blocked off the suction screen.

Can't imagine that you had some algae or such in your hyd system!

Maybe all the days that the tractor was parked was enough to let something take up residence in your tractor?

Yeah, I found no metal particles, if they were there they were really small. The stuff was just eckkkkie.
