kubota 2410 with loaded R4s
Hi Guys,

I need to borrow my FIL's 4610, but do not want the backhoe attached. Could someone tell me their step-by-step method of removing the hoe? I don't have access to the manual and he has never taken it off the tractor. Thanks in advance!

OK, lets see if I can remember this without doing it. First, let me say that I have a 4310, but I don't think the procedure is any different.
1) Retract the boom and dipper. Replace transport pins.
2) Lift the 3ph to its maximum height. This removes the weight from the BH pins
3) Remove the large pins holding the BH to the frame. If they won't move, use the stabilizers to fine tune the BH position so that the pins are free to move. Just be sure you lift the stablizers after you remove the pins.
4) Slowly lower the 3ph until the BH is resting on the ground. You may need to rock the tractor back and forth to get the 3ph to sink enough to clear the BH.
5) pull the tractor forward a little bit to make disconnecting the hydraulics a little easier. Shut down the tractor.
6) Disconnect the hydraulics, being sure to reconnect the power beyond lines back to itself.

I think that is it. If anyone sees anything I missed, please post..It really is very easy...

I think you got it, although I believe the hose connection has to be done first so you can lift the rockshaft arms. (When you unhook the backhoe and plug the hose into the back of the tractor you re-activate the circuit that operates the 3ph)
Then, like you say, lift to take the pressure off the pins, pull them, and set the hoe on the ground.

The rockshaft will operate whether the backhoe is connected or not. As long as the hydraulics are either connected to the backhoe or right back to the power beyond, the rockshaft is operable. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank you to everyone that replied. It sounds easy enough. I'll be taking it off today after work. Thanks again.

If you dont have access to it there, print that manual out, it'd be good to have with the hoe, anyway...

Good Luck!

My 4300 rockshaft won't operate if the hoe hydralics are connected. I use the landing gear to lift the hoe just enough to loosen the pins, then lower the unit til it is clear, pull ahead a few inches, SHUT OFF the engine and disconnect the hydralics, all from the tractor seat. The time consuming part is replacing the 3 pt lift arms.....
