100% ?? I thought the deduction for new equipment was only 50%.

Time to call my accountant again, I guess; I hate tax matters. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Just went into effect. For the next three years, and then the dang democrats will probably reverse it, you can take up to $100,000 a year 100% deduction for equipment.

Nice choice Richard, there are many times I wish we had a cab for our 5420. Its hot down here. A/C would come in handy. How much more was the cab? Does it include the isolated platform? Be sure to post some pictures when you get your new machine...Kyle

Hi Kyle,

You know the biggest reason I got the cab was for safety. I was talking to a rancher friend of mine and he said you know you can stand the heat and cold but with your girls driving the tractors you sure couldn't stand it if something happened to one of them. I had never thought of that. After he said that I really didn't care what the price was. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Actually the cab added about $6500 to the total price. I was going to get the isolated station like you so really cost me about $5600 more. The cabs are completely built into the tractor. You can't get one unless it's from the factory. At least that's what the dealer told me. It is similiar to the isolated operator station. I'll take some pics when it gets here. They are saying first to middle of august for delivery date.

Congrats! That will be a nice set-up. Did you hear anything about changes coming for '04 models? The tier II EPA emissions go into effect 1-1-04 and will effect off-road diesel applications. Sure would hate to see EGR on a tractor but it might be coming.

Just bought a new pickup and won't be able to do a tractor for probably about a year. I really like the 5420 and 5520. Looking at the Neb tractor tests the 5520 looks like it is a hare underrated with 76hp @ 2400 and 82 @ 2000 Maybe more bang for the buck? Looking at the build and price on deere.com the 5520 was around 2500 more on list price. Don't know if that would be worth while, but not much considering the total price of the machine.

You are about the fourth person that has commented about the cab and safety of kids. I have two little ones 1 1/2 and 3 1/2 and I am sure as they get older they will want to ride on tractor and some day operate it.

Congrats again and post some pictures!

local dealer has a 5520 w/cab and boy, is it one sweet looking machine! The cab is fantastic but what really blew me away was the level of finish in it. The interior was beautifully put together...I liked it a whole LOT. I was expecting a cab, yes, some climate control, yes. But the finish details were outstanding..not unlike a nice automobile on the inside. I'm in Maine and a heated cab would be sweet. After seeing this, I am seriously re-evaluating my first choice which was a 5205 and thinking now of maybe taking advantage of some cheap money and moving into a 5000 Twenty series w/cab..I would be truly spoiled....

Thanks Gary. I would go for the turbo but I'm already doubling what I was planning to spend on a tractor!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Originally I was going to get the 5303 and then the 5320. The difference there to the 5520 was around $4k. I compromised then and went with the 5420. I mean ideally I would have bought a 6415 with cab, power reverser, and mfwd. That one was $47k my price and it was almost $65k list!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Dahammer the cab is very nice. I was sold when I sat in one.
