My steering cylinder has been leaking badly. I finally am getting around to getting it fixed. Took the ram off the tractor. I assumed the ends of the rams spin off. I locked the ram in a vice and using a pipe wrench turned the ends. I was able to get them to spin, but they do not seem to be threading off. Is there a keeper spring of sorts. I don't seem to find any videos showing the steering ram on my tractor. Anyone with knowledge I would love to hear from you.

I've never had one apart, but the book I have shows the cylinder head has a lock nut of sorts threaded onto it. Says to remove the lock nut, push the head back into the barrel. That will expose an internal snap ring. (That usually turns out to be a wire ring) then the guts can be pulled out.
