I've got a 5210 that has the classic brake dragging issue. I know water got into hydraulic system while sitting outside for some time. Push the clutch in on a hill and it stops immediately. Pickup filter clogs with material and bush hogging for longer than an hour the bake pedals go right to the door without any resistance until everything cools off.

I've decided to tackle this repair myself after studying the repair manual, reading several posts online and watching a few videos on YouTube.

I've got the left side final drive off and and axel shaft turns freely as does the final drive hub. I was expecting to find and friction disk with chunks missing...but other then 2-3 very small areas, it looks completely intact (although maybe thinner than I was expecting).

I'd like some feedback on the pictures. Would you recommend I replace any of them? I'm after the retractor springs but haven't been able to get the piston plate out yet (need to get some proper crowbars). I've read several post the retractor springs can can be removed completely. Is this the consensus?

Both friction disks seem to be intact and only 1-2 very small pieces missing. The metal of the disks seem to be discolored (in guessing that's because of heat from them constantly dragging).

Is it recommended I replace these friction disks and the inner and outer o-rings before putting everything back together?

I've removed the retractor springs and at this point, going to put everything back together without them.

I would certainly replace those discs. No question there. For the amount of effort and expense involved, why would you NOT replace the piston O rings? As for the retractor springs, I've been tempted myself to do that very thing, but have not. I'm curious to learn how that works out down the road.
