JD 54\" bucket cubic yard capacity

Hi everyone, I thought that I remember seeing some place that the cubic yard capacity was 1/3 of a yard. Do any of you know if this is true?

Found this on the web at Stonehams. This is from a 200CX loader. Are other loader buckets similar? BTW, 1 yd = 27 cu. ft.

Has anybody ever monitored or measured the differences between level filled buckets, which I assume the above numbers are, and heaped buckets? 1/3 of a cubic yard sounds about right for 53" with a little heaping.

We need someone to perform a science experiment of moving a known pile size from one location to another keeping track of number loads it takes with a healthy amount of "heaping" - good ballast is assumed. Surely, with all the new owners looking for seat time, this shouldn't be a problem. I would but I can't seem to get the dirt man and weather aligned yet...

Thanks bglombowski yes it does. I seem to recall thinking that 3 buckets would get me close to a yard.

I have to move fill from the back of my property to the front of my home to take some of the steep grade down. Going to be a lot seat/loader time. I will probably post something in the projects folder with pics.
