JD 5400 3 point hitch slow

Do you have service manual for your Deere? It might have some diagnostic information vs just randomly replacing parts. Could be as simple as an adjustment on some linkage.

At least you didn稚 replace the loader valve first....

I do have the factory service manual on CD so I can study that for some help. I have found a seal kit for that valve, might try that first. I did save $400 on that loader valve so that's a good thing. I do appreciate your help, I couldn't have got this far without it. If you ever get to North Alabama I'll buy you a beer.

Thanks, Don

Don,
Happy to help when I can. I have no idea on how the 3 point operates on your tractor so I won稚 be much help on that.

Wishing you the best in getting this operational.

One thing to check. If you can see the linkage from the control lever to the 3 point valve inspect all of the connections to make sure a key or pin hasn稚 fallen out or broke off.

With the tractor off move the lever back and forth and be 100% certain every connection is rotating correctly.

Had a roll pin shear on the PTO engagement lever once that caused a random failure and had look real close to see the lever was turning farther than the shaft.

Now that Ray has walked you thru the good pump and valve test. I was going to bring it up before but didn't want to get you off track with Ray. There well be a safety valve in the rockshaft and it might be part way open.
I don't know where it would be at for your JD, but in your manual look for safety valve.

I'll get that done today. Thanks for the tip.

I thought I should bring this thread to a conclusion since I got a lot of good help from a number of people. Couple of weeks ago I was running a test that I found on this forum that involved deadheading the system at various eng speeds. I did that for about 5 minutes and pushed 2700 psi into it many times. I then heard something behind me, turned around and the 3 point was clear up with a 500 lb boxblade on it. I wasn't real shocked because I had run it at up to 2500 rpm. So I gently lowered the hitch and then moved the lever to the up position and the hitch came right to the top at eng idle. I have used it extensively for the last two weeks and it performs flawlessly. So it's fixed but I don't know why. My guess is all that pressure moved a piece of crud from holding a valve open a bit, but that's just a guess. I may never know what fixed it but as long as it keeps working I'm a happy camper and people can start calling me lucky. Thanks again for everyone's help.
