The day after I bought this beast, I decided to not run it until I got an owner's manual for it. So, I ran down to the JD dealer two miles from my house, and ordered manuals for the 660 and the 513 rotary cutter I had bought a month earlier ($400 and looked like it had only been used once, as the seller claimed). I wanted to go through the tiller manual's lube and maintenace sections, and make sure I knew how to mount and operate the thing.
The manuals finally arrived today, but were not gold-plated as I expected from their $43 each price tag...
I was concerned the 22 PTO HP on my Kubota might not handle the tiller very well. The manual lists seven different JD tractors for which JD recommends the 660 tiller. Two of them are listed on TractorData.Com as 22 PTO HP, while the largest of the bunch is only 35 PTO HP, though all are quite a bit heavier than the
B7800. So I see you guys are right on - no problem for my tractor.
JFS2295, I checked out the two sites you posted. My 660 looks like the HR7-60HD and has the same specs. That model appears to have been replaced by the HR 300B-150E listed by Beaver Valley. Beaver still uses a photo of the HR7 in their ad.
Now all I need to do is change the oil in the gearbox and chain drive, grease all the zerks and give it a whirl.
Thanks to all!
