- Kubota Tractor Loader L3560 HST+ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3,700 pounds bare tractor, 5,400 pounds operating weight, 37 horsepower
A big motivation is that rototilling on a 30 horse hydro just sucks fuel beyond imagining.
My 35-hp (net) Kubota Grand L HST/PLUS has an accurate digital fuel consumption readout.
Under non PTO use diesel consumption is .5 gallon per hour.
Spinning a 1,000 pound HD Rotary Cutter mowing Florida jungle diesel consumption increases to .7 gallon per hour.
Should I mow for eight hours, fuel consumption difference relative to eight hours of loader work would be .2 X 8 = 1.6 gallons. Small change.
HST transmits engine power output to tractor wheels indirectly via hydraulic fluid flow.
PTO transfers engine power directly from the engine to the PTO splines 100% mechanically.
HST and PTO do not interface, although there may be an exception.
