It's a diesel. You bring up a good point about the right oil. I have been using Castrol GT or GTX in my 755 since new. I recall in the beginning the oil was dual rated for both gasolene and diesel engines. It no longer is. To be honest, I have not looked that close at the label nor have I looked for diesel rated oils. I'm not sure how available they are.
I end up changing my oil every 50 to 80 hours in the spring/summer/fall cycle and 15 to 30 hours in the winter cycle. I think frequent oil changes help minimize the impact of using a non-diesel rated oil. I hope /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I am interested in what others are using.

the big problem when using gasoline rated only oils is they use different additives mainly this tends to wear the ring areas more on diesels where the rings are hotter.. according to rotella's tech's on there forum.. kinda caught my eye as i'm looking into finding a good 10w30 for my hino..
