I ADDED THE SHIMS IN THE HYDRAULICS UNDER THE SEAT TO GIVE IT MORE LIFTING AND DIGGING POWER YESTERDAY AND IT MADE A GOOD DIFFERENCE. THIS IS THE QUESTION. WAS THERE SUPPOSE TO BE SHIMS THERE ALREADY? I PUT FIVE IN IT. THE PARTS VIEW SHOWS 5 ALREADY THERE,BUT THERE WASNT. I THOUGHT I WOULD BE ADDING TO THESE FIVE. IF SO I AM BACK TO STOCK- WHAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BEFORE-- RIGHT? ANOTHER QUESTION, I READ THE POST ON KARTVINES. IS THE "QUICK" ATTACHTMENT FOR THE BH ON THE FRAME SUPPOSED TO SWIVEL ALL THE WAY CLEAR OF THE PINS TO LET THE FRONT PART DROP TO THE GROUND OR DO YOU DRIVE OUT FROM IT. I JUST DID THIS YESTERDAY AND IT WENT PRETTY SMOOTH, BUT I DID DRIVE OUT FROM IT TO HELP IT DIS-ENGAGE.

I also noticed the shims shown in the parts list on the JD Parts website. That's one reason I added the shims, since my tractor didn't have them either.

The only way you'll know for sure is by using a pressure gage (say 4000 PSI) rigged into the system.

If I recall, the stock pressure should be between 1900 psi and 2000 psi. Bumping the relief valve up with one pack of shims should take the presssure to 2500 psi ± 1000 pis.

I should do this too, BTW...

Until you know what your pressure is set at now, it's not advisable to add any more shims.

Personally, I think Deere derated the 419 loader as it was too much competition to the 4100 and 4200 series tractors (which have a greater profit margin over the 790's).

Your 770 has a 70 FEL. You really need to find out what your hydraulic system pressure should be at stock.
