Buying Advice JD 790 or NH TC30 Which is better?

I've owned both a 790 and a TC30. TC30 would be my pick for the following reasons: 3 ranges instead of 2, shifter on steering column instead of on the floor, NH is built heavier - heavier axle castings, wider stance and (perceived) lower center of gravity on TC30 makes it feel more stable, no plastic on TC30, Controls setup is preferable overall (to me, anyway).

Both should be dead reliable for thousands of hours. Either way you go, I don't think you can pick a bad tractor.

Glad I didn't see this thread a couple of weeks ago!!!
I had been looking at a 790 and just couldn't pull the trigger.....Ran across a TC 30 in basically as good or better shape as the 790 i was agonizing over...the difference was the TC was 2k cheaper and came with 15 pieces of equipment. I have been VERY pleased with the TC 30. I've had it to the limit several times!
