We finalized the Honda 700-4. What was kinda funny, finally got threw everything and went to load it up, and back tires where about 1" to wide for trailer, so they have to deliver it tomorrow.

Kawasaki is the only manufacturer that offers a three year warranty if that matters to you.

I had two Polaris machines and would not buy one again. I got a Kawasaki Mule 2 months ago for putzing around and so far like it but it is too slow for you. Mine was $8200 OTD

We looked at the Honda 700-4, Viking 700, and Can Am HD8, and liked the Honda. Started paper work, and when they came back with a final number, I couldn't believe it. For a $12,400 machine, they wanted $16,500, at $441 per month for 36 months. I knew there would be a couple fees, and of coarse sales tax, but I never expected $4100 extra on a $12k machine. They threw a couple more options out, and we left. Seems like they are willing to drop $1k plus remove $1200 in options, plus lower interest, and extend to a 60 month loan. Wife seems to be decided, so probably go sign tomorrow.

Who pays $450 a month for a toy? My truck is $525, my mortage, with insurance and property tax is $378; what are these guys paying on the $25-30k mud buggies? Sorry to rant, but dang. When we started looking, we where really drawing in my these "$115 per month" and "$155 per month" adds you see.... I fully expected to be higher, just not that much; still walking bowlegged

What made you pick the Honda over the Can Am? Price?
Did you get a OTD price on the Can Am?
Did you ask for the options? Or was it already optioned that way?
$4K in fees would have made me run, not walk :laughing:

The 4k was tax, dealer prep, some other destination fee, pre installed roof, and wind shield. They stripped roof and wind shield, and that saved $1200. I figure we can always add that stuff later, and not pay interest on it for 60 months.

They also had a way to wave the sales tax, based on Ag usage? Not 100% clear on that, but it saved 7%. Hope that isnt something that circles back to bite us later. Seemed mildly shady, but I'm ok with cheating the Gov if I can.

Wife really wanted the 4th seat, which pretty much ruled out the Defender and Viking, unless you went full crew cab. We have a 14yo, 9 yo, and 6 yo. The Defender and Viking 6 seat crews are close to the size of a Jeep Wrangler, or seem like it. Maybe it's an optical illusion...

They pushed real hard on extended warranties, but we opted out. I actually considered adding it at like $28/month, but I never add extended warranty to anything.

I'm confident that Honda makes excellent stuff, so fingers crossed, it will be a good machine.

I guess I'm one of those people who Hate dealers, car dealers, equipment dealers, ect. Would it kill dealers to give you a straight price?

As a plus, Honda Fiancing doesnt require insurance, where my credit union would, at approx $35 month.

It's a pricey toy, but we want to do more as a family, as the kids are getting older.

LOL They are not cheap no matter the brand. My Gator 865r was just a shade over 31K when it was fully optioned out! And that is with no tax (farm use). That puts it at 860ish a month for 36 months. I like it so much that I would buy anther one, no question. As over priced as they are, there just is not a reasonable substitute.

I am glad it was merely lack of seats in the box that made you rule out the Can Am.

I had made arrangements to look at used Can Am HD 8 XT yesterday (Saturday), but the day before (Friday) the seller emailed me, that he had received and offer he couldn't refuse, so he sold it.

From July 11th to July 19th, we are already due for the first service, 20hrs/100 miles; and we are at like 135 miles and I think 18 hours. I normally do any of my own oil changes, but I guess your suppost to adjust valve clearances at first service, so we are gonna have the dealer do that, and so all the oil changes going forward.

If it helps I have a 2009 Honda Big Red that's been great to me. It's got lots of hours on it and so far hasn't let me down. I've thought about replacing it but today's prices are a lot higher and since it's not given me any issues I haven't bothered looking into it.

20 hr/100 mile service (158 miles actually) is/was $460. I wasnt about to mess with valve adjustment on a brand new machine, so I guess that's the price of being lazy. That does seem crazy though. I will be doing all the oil changes from here on out my self.
