JD 850 hot loader valve

I put an older Kioti loader on my JD 850 (no power steering). After mowing for several hours and then using the loader to lift a few big branches to a burn pile, I felt the loader control valve and it was hot. It wasn't so hot that I couldn't leave my hand on it, but it was definitely hot. Is this normal?

I had a finish mower in the up position on the 3 pt. would this matter?

Also, in the owners manual for the 850, it states that id you install a loader you should use a 3 port valve: IN (pressure side), OUT (to the sump), and BYD (to continue to the 3 pt hydraulics). However, when I hooked up in this manner, the loader worked, but not the 3 point. Instead, I plugged the BYD port and just had pressure IN and OUT going on to the 3 pt.

Let me know if I'm messing up somewhere.

Your valve is connected up wrong.

If the valve has PB, you should use it.

If you are sending the OUT port to the 3pt, and the 3pt is up, then the loader valve is in relief most of time.

Use a PB adapter in the PB port and feed that port to the 3pt.

I googled it, but what's a Power Beyond adapter? Before, I hooked a hydraulic hose to the PB port on the valve and went to the 3 point, that didn't work. What does the adaptor do?

Also, it seems to me that the way I have it hooked up now is exactly how it was prior to having the valve. Instead of going straight to the 3 pt, it's routed to the valve and then back to the 3 pt.

A tractor without a loader will have the pump feeding the 3pt directly.

A valve with a PB port and no adapter is the same as the OUT port. That flow path should not be used to feed another valve. That output should go to tank.

When you add a loader valve, the pump first feeds the loader valve and using a PB adapter will split the loader valve output so the used cyl fluid goes directly to tank under low pressure, and the pump flow will continue downstream to feed the 3pt under full pressure.

The 3pt will then dump the cyl flow to tank as well as the pump flow.

When connecting hyd valves in an open center hyd system, all of the valves are in series . All valves except the last valve should have a PB port with adapter to feed pump flow to the next valve .

'Preciate it. I see. That's why the loader wouldn't work when I had the PB going to the 3 pt and the OUT going to the sump.

The only problem is finding a PB adapter for this valve. The valve came with the loader and it has no identifying marks or serial numbers on it. Are all PB adapters made the same as long as I get one with the correct threads? Happen to know the best place to get one?

I just looked again and found a number on the control handles attached to the control valve. The number is 30950-301c. When googled, the handle comes back to an Eaton 2 spool valve. Looked everywhere and can't find a "power beyond adapter" for it...

Yes sir. It looks the same except that mine is a 2 spool.

Call Eaton and ask if it is the same for your two spool valve.
