JD 850 tractor hyd filter clogging up

I have a 1981 JD850 over the past several years I have been having 3 ponit lift problems. The trans/hyd oil turns milky and the screen clogs up. I have had the pump rebuilt once and drained and refilled and cleaned the screen several times. This seems to be a temporary fix with the interval between problems getting shorter each time. When the tractor is cold it operates fine but when the oil warms up I can hear the engine mounted pump cavatating and the lift becomes sluggish then quits all together.Any ideas?

I think you need to cover the tractor if left outside. That will help prevent water from getting into the tractor. Change out the hyd filter more often. Put a pressure gage in the system and it will help you analyze your problems. Check for leaks at the pump input.

Are you using the correct hyd fluid ?

Sounds like water is getting in your sump somehow, that is why the fluid looks milky. This must be addressed before anything else. Is the machine kept outside?
