A :confused:question about these units. When mine is in neutral the transmission freewheels some and the only way to get it into gear is to grind things. Is this normal or do I have something wrong?

If it shifts easily with the engine turned off, your idle rpm is set too high.

Slowing the idle might help a bit but the problem is with the tranny in neutral it turns so easy that the slight belt drag on the engine pulley turns the tranny too.

Sounds like the clutch needs to be blown out. Check your manual, there should be a how-to on taking the cover off the clutch and blowing the dust out. If there's too much dust and dirt inside the clutch housing the clutch won't completely disengage.
