It was an air heater problem. There is a control module that plugs into a receiver that is mounted on the engine side of the firewall. The prongs on the module and the receiver were packed with dirt, preventing current flow to the heater even though the indicator light on the operator's panel operated normally. It was not evident until the module was unplugged. Cleaned the terminals and it works fine now. Heads up; the same thing could happen to any 655, 755, 855, or 955.
