JD #9 sickle bar swath board question

Yep, the swather board slides along the ground. The hay sticks attach to the swather board and sort of windrow the cuttings so they don't clog the inboard end of the cutter bar on the next pass.

I believe the pole attached to the Swather/Grass Board is called a Pitman Bar.
I was just given a JD Swather Board as a gift with JD info still visible. The partal set of 1" numbers stamped into it are 9968. I believe it was sawn off the original machine. Riveted flat bar inner bottom wear strip is still intact. JD Number 1 Mower? Horse drawn?

Thinking that is a grass board and a stick. The pitman arm connects to the cutter bar, and makes it move back and forth.

I saw it referred to as a Pitman Bar. Whatever. You are also correct.
