Just priced out a 450hp Dual Wheel JD-9520 with all the bells and whistles.
Retail price = 216,722.00.
Question…
What type of dealer discount should I expect? I’m thinking if I pay cash, and I mean not a check but real US Uncle Sam dollars that I should expect at least 20 percent and a free hat.

Any thoughts?

PS: I would only be using it for clearing out the snow around my mailbox. You know, for after you plow the driveway and you have that pesky snow that the mail carrier has to reach over to get you your bills.

PPS: I haven’t run this idea by the Wife yet. Still trying to justify it. I’m thinking I could tell her “If the pickup truck craps out I could put the PU truck in the bucket and drive the JD down to the service station with the PU in the bucket.
A saving of a $25.00 tow fee each time. I could break even with 8,000 tows @ $25.00 per.

PPPS: Ah, never mind, just a pipe dream.

A free hat yes, cash = discount, not today. I think they may give you something off if you take out a loan. To the dealer, in the end, they get the same monetary amount when they sell the tractor unless they carry the paper and play bank.

Pilgrim,

How irresponsible! What could you possibly do on a JD9520 that you couldn't accomplish with a JD9420. What's an extra 25hp gonna do for ya? I think a JD9420 would be plenty for your property. Think about it.... Your garden isn't going to get tilled any quicker, nor is your lawn gonna get done any faster. Be conservative for a change and go for the JD9420 /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Pilgrim,

I agree with Kevin. Go for the JD9420, save $15,000 and use these savings to get a new or good used pick-up. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Dealer delivered my new JD9520 ( and free hat ) this afternoon.

Wife called and said she was coming home early.
I managed to get a tarp ( a very large tarp ) over it before she got home as I have yet to mention the purchase to her. It's just that the topic has never come up.
She looked at the tarp and said "Honey, what's under the tarp?"
Oh oh, I didn't expect that one. Think fast "Uhhhh, WOOD!, firewood!, I had some firewood delivered today.
Yea, 24 cord of firewood."
"We only burned one cord last winter" she says.
"Yea, well, with the global warming stuff and everything else I just figured that, that... No time to chat honey, I have to go to the barn and get to work on that... that THING I've been working on.
Sometimes I wonder why God gave men all the brains.

Ed the Pilgrim, Super Genius!

Also, I hope to be able to contribute something substantive to this board in the future.
For now I’m just joken round.
Peace.

Check those wheel bolts reguarly,I have had problems with mine coming loose on my JD 4400,I would hate to think of having problems with a tractor that size, let alone my little ole JD 4400.

Pilgrim,

I could put the PU truck in the bucket and drive the JD down to the service station with the PU in the bucket.

Just wondering, what's the size of this bucket?...it would have to be what about 16-18' long to accommodate that PU of yours. Are you thinking of getting a toothbar for the bucket? Wow, a toothbar on a bucket this size would probably give you shanks of at least 2' long. Amazing!!!!!! Just think, you'll likely be able to bulldoze out 6-7' stumps with no problem. You're amazing!!! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
