I have seen many JD 4000 series that have the front wheels mounted with the offset closest to the tractor. Making the width from wheel to wheel longer. Does your wheel placement matter? Could this hurt the tractor in any way?

I swapped my fronts to reverse them on my 2210 and gained about 6" of track. I can't see where that would cause a problem but it does help reduce the rollover index some

A word of caution:
If you are switching front wheels, verify that the wheel is a 2 position wheel. Some of Deere's documentation about this is wrong, and if the wheel isn't a 2 position wheel, it can only be mounted in 1 position. Our experience was with an r-1 tire. I think it has to do with a chamfer for the wheel bolt. We had a case where a wheel came off and rolled down the road ahead of the tractor!
Just be sure before you switch.

Tonite I did a LH front wheel reverse on my 4210 which has turfs and the 60-inch 7-Iron MMM. Prior to reversing that one wheel, the center of the tread cleared the deck gage wheel mount by 2 1/2 inches, and the RH tread center (discharge chute side) had only one inch of clearance from the gage wheel mount on that side.

With the LH wheel reversed, the tire just cleared the mount but rubbed on the deck itself before turning full lock. Five inches were added to the track in the reversing process...
Needless to say I didn't bother to experiment with the RH side wheel. While I am going to pull the MMM for the winter season, I don't really need an additional 10 inches of track width up front.

Back in 1967, I had a set of chrome reverse rims on my new Mustang...yes, the tires rubbed up front, but they looked really cool. I'm too old for that kind of foolishness now. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I've considered reversing the front wheels too, for but am concerned it might overwork the power steering. It would also affect grading with the loader bucket. The bucket is 61" wide and the front track is 60". One would really want the 73" bucket with the wheels reversed.

Mine are reversed , no steering issues. The manual isn't shy about warnings, and there were none about dishing the wheels out. But you do need to whatch the lug chamfers!

Good point !!! The inner side of my 4210 wheels did not have the chamfers....
