What's sad about it is with those 2 local dealers folding up it leaves all the local owners of John Deeres without repair and parts service.
The new suckers who buy JD at our local Looows and Home D Pot are going to get a rude awakening that first time when that purty Green Tractor needs parts or worked on.
I would not be jumping for joy when I found out I had to drive 40 to 75 miles to pick up a part and worse yet to have to haul it that far for service.
4 of my next door neighbors have JD Garden Tractors. They probably don't even know their local dealers have pulled the rug out from under them. I feel sorry for them and all the other JD owners in my area. What a Bummer.
I was seriously considering buying a nice used JD 345 from a local private individual but The deals is off due to no local dealer support.
This move is going to hurt individuals wanting to sell their tractors.
I was highly interest in buying a JD-g/t. but no local dealer support has caused me to rule out a JD.I no longer have any desire for a JD unless something changes the picture.

Hayhurst Equipment in Pennsboro is only about 30 miles from you...

Just a quick trip across route 50, with a brief stop at Dairy Queen in Ellenboro on the way back home!
While you're there, you can even stop in at that gas station on old route 50 that sells off road diesel by the gallon. :p

It was only 3.25 miles to the local dealer that closed down.
A big difference in the winter time on snowy icey roads.
Also quite a bifg difference in the tow bill for hauling the tractor.

Well, that dealer has closed. If you still want a John Deere garden tractor, I was trying to be helpful by suggesting a good dealer that was close to you. 30 miles on a four lane does not take long.

Will you be needing to go there in the winter time? I thought you were going to use this for mowing? Besides, highways are kept cleared in the winter time these days.

Nah, a small garden tractor will fit in the back of one of your pickup trucks. Do you have plans to haul it to the dealer a lot?

The John Deere Dealer I use for parts and service is 25 miles from where I live. Another is 7 miles from my farm which I rent out but am responsible for 20 acres of pasture--that farm is 75 miles from my house and the other dealer from whom I buy implements is 250 miles away but 75 miles from my soon to be (Ihope) retirement place. Sounds crazy, but this is West Texas where football games are often 100 miles from home. I guess its what you get used to.

I drive 28 miles to my dealer of choice. There is one about 9 miles closer, but I have only been to it once since it was taken over by new owners. JC

PS:
Say it's worse than I thought.
I went to the other local JD Dealer and they have closed up shop too.
JD must really be hurting.
Welcome To Leslie EquipmentLeslie equipment was the John Deere agr. tractor dealer in Marietta,Leslie is strictly John Deere heavy equipment in 10 locations. They were not interested in fooling with AG equipment, this was the only dealer out of the 10 that did sell ag equipment.I talked to the salesman up there a couple of years ago and they would not compete with "Hurst" Kubota dealer ship right down the road. The Kubota dealership sold a lot more tractors. Hayhurst is about 38 miles from my house,if you need a part and do not want to drive out there they will ship it to your house. Where was the other John Dealer at you were talking about that you said closed ?? If it was in Parkersburg they closed it about 4 years ago, because the owner could not run a business,to my understanding he went bankrupt. Hayhurst is an excellent John deere dealer they have been around for decades.

1*Thanks and I may Check them out and reconsider a JD
2*May use the front blade for snow removal.
3*My Wards MTD powerCraft won't fit on my pickups. The JD 345 I was considering is bigger than the MTD. I had to get a small utility trailer to haul the mtd when I bought the mtd.The truck I had set up to tow the trailer with went bonkers a couple years ago so I don't have anything set up to pull a trailer with now.
4*HA HA pretty clever: You were on yer toes on that one weren't you!

For years John Rech located on RT 821 was the JD Tractor Dealer.
At the same time Gress Equip. on rt 7 was the JD Construction equipment dealer.
When John retired Gress took over the JD Tractor line and for many years handled both Tractors and Construction Equip.
Some years ago Leslie took over GRESS but both lines of JDs were handled by them for many years also.
