JD FEL Modifications for Curtis Plow

( Not sure how into fabrication you are but I figured I would mention this. After using the FEL on my BX this winter and a rear blade I realized that a front blade would really be the best option for most snow clearing duties. The Curtis blades are nice but they are heavy and expensive. The option I have looked is using an ATV type plow blade and somehow adapting it to work on the FEL on my BX. The blades are cheaper than the Curtis setup and you can get a "Cyclone" style blade too ( One end higher than the other for channelling the snow as you plow). You would have to come up with some sort of custom mount to attach the blade to your FEL quick attach mounts though. )

i looked at this last year and though the fel mounted blade would be too far out and i'd be better off making a mount for the tractor and taking the fel off. i still have the blade (5' blade with the mounting bracket) . i ended up getting another tractor for moving snow (dk45c) i put a 8' blade on the front and a snowblower on the back

Thanks for the pic - that is similar to what I was thinking of doing. Which blade did you use? How was the quality of the blade itself? I have yet to actually see one of these blades in person and was wondering how heavy duty they really were.

I looked at a number of the ATV plows , Warn, Country, and I believe a couple of others make what they call "County" or "Cylone" style blades. You can see the Warn version here .

Since your 2210 has quick attach on the FEL arms you should be able to make up a mount that will allow you to swap back and forth between the bucket and a plow. I like the Cyclone style plows because after using my rear blade for clearing the driveway this winter I can see how having one end of the plow blade higher than the other will help to clear the snow. If you are into metal fab I think all you would need is a frame to adapt mounting the plow blade to the FEL quick attaches - check back thru KennyD's earlier post - somewhere in there is a link to where you can buy some of the quick attach pieces from JDparts or some similar place.
