I have a good friend that is willing to sell his JD 72" 3pt finish mower (JD 272?), he wants to get a nicer Woods mower. The mower is probably 15 years old and in good condition. His initial offer is to sell it for $700. I think this is a bit high and wanted to get a little input before I made a counter offer. I plan to call a few dealers today to see what they go for new.
Another question on the JD mowers - I know the main reason he is selling the mower is because he doesn't like the two wheel configuration (the rear of the mower rides on the two wheels and the front is held up by the hydraulics). He says the front of the mower will drift down slightly as he mows giving an uneven cut and I've also heard that two wheeled mowers are prone to scalping (such as when you mow across a ditch or swale or go over a mound).
Would appreciate any feedback.
