JD Fundamentals of Machine Operation Books

As I read this forum I see that many people seem to be interested in gaining further information into the use and maintaince of their tractors and equipment. One of the series of books I have relied on for years is the John Deere "Fundamentals of Machine Operations" series. The books I have are over 20 years old so I wondered what JD had available today. I also have a 4 book series by JD on Compact Tractors, 1 each on engines, hydraulics, power transmission and electrical systems.

They are very well written by JD's training department.

Is the info in the books more generic or more specific to Jonh Deere?

The info in the 4 compact equipment books is totally generic. I don't even think here is a picture of a John Deere tractor in them. The larger AG books, I have two the one on tillage and the tractor one are also generic but there pictures are mostly John Deere equipment.

Thanks for the ref. JD has put out excellent books on operation of equipment/implements etc. going back many decades. Their series The Operation, Care & Repair of Farm Machinery is still good (my 28th edition has a publ date of 1957). From your post, looks like they are still doing a first rate job in that area. Will order some. Thanks again.

PS Is the print/paper/binding quality of the newer stuff still good? (i.e. acid free paper, sewn pages etc.)
