I know I'm a Kubota guy posting on the JD forum but I'm jealous. Gemplers just came out with the new spring catalog and in the new items insert there it was, the ultimate John Deere Tool Box.
Seems like JD always has the advantage in tractor accessories. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Deere is just very marketing savvy...like Harley-Davidson. Now to make you more jealous, at the National Farm Machinery Show last month Deere was showing their new John Deere-branded aluminum truck tool boxes. You know the kind...the aluminum, diamond-plate box that's behind the rear window of most every pickup truck on the road.
After close inspection, these boxes look to be made by DeeZee, the same company that sells to Tractor Supply.
Smart marketing.

Hmm... makes me wonder when we'll see John Deere stickers for our shotgun barrels!

Nice markup for the green paint....I have three of those tool boxes with Craftsman red and charcoal colors and they set me back $15-$20 each.

I have this JD toolbox and it is much more than the $20 ones. The closest one that I have seen in quality is from Snap-On that sells for $135. There is a very cheap version that the Farm & Fleet stores and Menards sells that is $40. It is not the quality of this one by a longshot.

Like the others said.. JD is a marketing fiend. Anything that they can license out or sell their picture to be affixed to.. they do.

I wonder if Deere is actively seeking these products, or just licensing them as they come to Deere with the ideas. Whatever, they obvoiusly are marketable.

A few years ago, I was looking at the Deere sheets and pillowcases, and talked to a friend who was a manager of a large store. He said they carried a Deere line of such goods as well as had access to a "red" line. The Deere sold off the shelves like hotcakes, while the red line just didn't move. Since that time, seems there has been an upsurge and every craft store has a Green line of something or other, with everything from "soup to nuts". I suspect it might have to do with years and years of quality that is paying off in non-deere country. I don't know that, but I like the color myself for that reason.

(I also believe that other competitors have quality as well). /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

The people will go to John Deere rather than John Deere going to them.John Deere Green and Yellow is like Coca Cola merchandise, people like it. I was in a Cracker Barrel restaraunt gift shop and they have a whole corner of JD merchandise along with other nostalgic items.
They say the John Deere logo/green and yellow is as popular as Coca Cola logo.
