I have been given the use of a 6ft aer-way and got it home and its about 1 1/2 inches not being wide enough to fit the Imatch. is there a longer pin I can get or do I have to custom build something. jb

Junk the Deere I-Match. Go purchase a Speeco quick hitch for $100 or a Farm Pro quick hitch for $70. They work on everything and the I-Match works only on 5% of implements.

Looking at the quick hitches on the Speeco site they look an awful lot like an I match. If the implement he borrowed is too narrow how is the Speeco hitch going to fit it. I see it has an adjustable top link hook which would halp with some things but unless it has adjustable width I can't see where it's going to help. The fact that the I match doesn't fit many implements is because the implement manufacturers are are buidling hardware that does not actually meet category one specs. If they did in most cases the implements will fit an I match or any other quick hitch. I have a few implements that are true cat 1 that do not quite work with my I match. The modications are typically simple and involve clearance under the top hook for so the hitch can be raised up without inerferance.

Rant on:
WOW, What a terrible response:mad:
Did you read the question that was asked? He said the implement was not wide enough to fit the I-Match. **** the HE** is "junking the I-Match" and buying another similar hitch going to help him?
The Speedco or Farm Pro will NOT "work on anything" and the Deere unit will certainly work with more than 5%.
I think you have just done a disservice to your business with this response.
Rant off!

To the original poster:
TSC does sell some longer pins, but the best solution if you have the ability is to modify the implement to fit properly, it can be a PITA but you will appreciate the hard work for years to come!

Yep. People sure don't read very carefully. They answer their assumptions instead.

I have a 6-foot Aerway. It's made to fit a Category II quick hitch. And, as you found out, a Category I will not fit as the quick hitch is not wide enough. Also, if the Aerway is still equipped with factory lower lift pins, the Category I quick hitch is also too wide to use the lower lift pins that point inwards toward the center of the implement.

The Aerway should have long pins that go all the way through the holes in the two vertical supports at the lower attachment points - with the lift pins sticking out to the inside of the interior vertical supports (toward the center of the implement).

You have to take off the quick hitch and use the hitch lift arms without the quick hitch. I have modified my Aerway (cutting, welding, etc.) to be able to use my Category I Imatch with it.

It's also possible that simply installing the JD bushing kit on the impliment would increase the pin width enough to use the i-match hitch. The kit is about $30 and is not a permanent modification. I'd say it might just add 1.5" - 2.5" of width for the i-match to grab onto. Do a search for the bushing kit and you should be able to find the part #. I'm not sure what it is.

No - you don't understand the problem. The lower lift pins on the Aerway go through two vertical 1/2-inch thick plates that are spaced about 3-inches apart on each side of the implement. If you have a Cat II quick hitch, that's the attachment point - and the spacing between is exactly correct.

The inner plates holding the hitch pins on either side of the implement are the exact width of the Cat I quick hitch lower lift points. When you backup centered on the implement the lower lift points on the quick hitch hit the inner plates on their edge. The implement lift pins stick through the inner plates giving a standard 3-point hitch pin to use with your lift arms.

There are no spacers, etc. that can be used to make a Cat I quick hitch work unless you cut off the inner plate on each side. Not a good idea. The implement weighs 1330 pounds.

Ok, I thought the pins were sticking out of the sides. Yes, the bushing kit won't work in this case.

 What size tractor are you trying to pull the aerway with? You need at lease 40-45 hp to pull this implement with (at full penetration), so the size of the hitch is moot if your tractor is too small for the implement.
