Tractor
Case 580C
These are the manufacturers who have dealerships near me that I am visiting tomorrow.

I need a small 4x4 utility tractor for small tasks around my property. I have about 2 acres to mow so I want at least a 60" mower deck. I will be getting a snowblower and back blade probably as well as I have a 600' driveway. I will probably build a log arch eventually also since I heat with wood.

I dont need a big tractor because I have a 580 Case backhoe for the big stuff. Basically I want the smallest 4x4 tractor with a live pto and three point hitch I can get. Then I can sell my 4x4 quad and use some real implements. I want more pulling power than my Polaris has as it is too light to really do anything.

I am pretty much lost since all these manufacturers have so many goofy model numbers, JD and Kubota have me completely confused, let alone the other manufacturers I listed. My budget is around 10k, plus or minus a little, which puts into used JDs and Kubotas most likely. With some of the manufacturers offering 0% financing I may be able to raise my budget a little.

I am just wanting to know what models I should be looking at, nothing too heavy or big, remember I want a tractor that wont crush my septic field and lawn, but one that can run a lot of different attachments (more than the 4x4 lawnmowers I see the manufacturers have).

Thanks

Your pricing is really low for what you want. You'll be looking at $10-$13k used for those attachments for JD AND Kubota. Probably over $18k new. Also, is a loader wanted?

For JD and Kubota-

JD-

20hp:
4010

22hp:
4110

23hp:
2210

24hp
2305

Largest decks being 60" or 62" for each. Snow blowers, and back blades can be had for each.

Kubota-(since no backhoe wanted)

15hp:
BX1500

18hp:
BX1800
BX1850
BX1860

22hp:
BX2200

23hp:
BX2360

26hp:
BX2660

Same criteria as Deere.

You are right, it is confusing. But, I've marked them for HP, so compare each. I would use TractorData.com - information on all makes and models of tractors to compare these by HP. I hope this helps!

For two acres plus a driveway, a subcompact would probably fit the bill very nicely. and, as it happens, each of the brands you are asking about have very nice subcompact models.

JD - 2305.
Kubota - BX2360, BX2660
Cub Cadet Yanmar - SC2400
Massey Ferguson - GC2400, GC2600

Enjoy shopping, check out the dealers as well as the tractors, try them out, and have fun! Good luck in your quest.

Thanks for the replies, are the Kubota BX15's and BX18's useful for much besides mowing?

I have a BX1500 and though you can put a BH and FEL on one I dont think it would support a 60" MMM. I have a 54" MMM on mine and it does a great job and I use it on some steep slopes. I cant speak for the BX18xx.

I went and looked at Bobcats and Kubotas today. Unfortunately there were no CT122's I could look at but I did get to check out a BX 2360 that I really liked, and the pricing was pretty decent too I thought.

I ruled out BX1860 because of the smaller frame and it only comes with a 54" MMM, but I think the 2360 will fit my needs if I go in that direction. I still have not gone to the Massey or Cub Cadet dealer. What Massey and Cub Cadet models are equal to the BX2360?

I have ruled out Deere because of the price and lack of financing options.

The Massey and Cub Cadet models I listed in post #3 above are in the same class as a BX. Good luck in your search.

Can they get the CT122 in?
They are going for about 10.5K with a loader, I do not think JD or Kubota can topuch that. I have seen the CT122 packaged with the loader and MMM for arounf 12-13K, much, much more machine then a SCUT.

There is a $1500 rebate right now on the CT122. However with the Bobcat you have to pay $1300 for a mid mount PTO, they are not standard. The CT122 is a bigger machine than the BX2360, and has more hydraulic GPM. You can have a loader or 5 years with no financing, not both. I dont have 12k so I need the financing. Also you can have the Bobcat 225 for only $900 more than the CT 122 because it has a $3500 rebate, and that is a LOT more tractor but more tractor than I want. Small and light are two things I want, not big and heavy.

I can get the BX2360 with a 60"MMM for 2k less than the CT122. A smaller tractor but size is not my main goal. I am still looking though.
