Hi all,
i have a problem. The oil filter on my lt 160 is stuck. i cannot get it off, is there any trick, or way that you have found to get it unscrewed?
i have been using an oil filter wrench (one that tightens as you move the handle).
i have also tried using a pipe wrench but that seems to damage the outside of the filter.
the filter will not budge, either direction.
Please help my grass needs to be cut.
thanks

You can poke a large screwdriver through it and use it for leverage. Or put some sandpaper between the filter and the filter wrench so it gets a good grip on the filter and then use an extension and the filter wrench. Or some large channel lock pliers...grip as close to the top as possible.

Somebody makes an oil filter "socket" that fits over the flat surfaces on the end of the filter and you then use a wrench on that. Be aware that there are different sizes so you need to get the one that fits your filter. They work really well.
