JD LX 176 charging problem

I have a JD LX176 that originally had a Kawasaki FC420v engine that was replaced by a B&S model 31B707-0026-E1,about 3 years ago. I am having charging problems and I can't figure out my next move. I can't find the regulator anywhere and I am wondering if it is part of the stator or where it's located. I looked at the ignition switch and saw that it has a circuit board and some components that look like relays and I am wondering if this is where the regulator is located. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.

Search for LX176
Then click on the Sectional Index
Section 15 (Engine 176) and page 8 (Flywheel/Stator) might help...

Then look at section 40 (Electrical) and pages 59 thru 63 show wiring harness options.
I see a voltage regulator that is item 8 in some of the drawings.
But I do not see a board. Maybe you can find what you need there someplace.

Thank you so much for your reply it is very helpful.I misidentified the ignition switch,it is called the A2 Interlock module,my bad.The charging circuit diagnosis will also be very useful.The tractor is @ our summer place which is about 60 miles away and I'm not there this week so it will have to wait till maybe Thursday to get any results.Again thank you for the info.
