JD Manuals & Parts Lists

I agree with all the positive JD manual comments here. I wouldn't buy a new tractor without this information. One thing I really like about the JD manuals is they have "theory of operation" sections about each system on the tractor. These are a BIG help in understanding how the tractor systems work and what the parts do.

In addition to the obvious benefit of being able to see how to repair various systems, they also give step-by-step diagnostics lists to help figure out exactly where the problem lies.

Finally, I think that having all of this information about how things work makes it easier to understand how to operate the equipment in a way that is safe and is easier on the machine.

Looks like the next chance I get I'm off to the dealer to order the Manuals! You guys made that a no-brainer

My dealer thru the CD service manual in as part of the deal. Initially I asked for the manual itself. Those are quite expensive, I had to agree with him so as a compromise he offered the CD. I love the 2320, I hope I never have to use the CD.

If anyones interested, I have the CD's for JD's tractors and some lawn tractors and equipment. Most everything from '05 back to the 50 series that were built in the '70's compact utility tractors and some of the 5000 series.

I just recieved my manual on cd yesterday for a 1070. I dont know if the ones for the other models are different but now I understand what others where saying about navigating thru the pdf file with no indexing. All the info is there but it can be a pain to find the right page. I allmost wish i had waited and saved another 100 dollars and bought the paper version.


Just my opinion.

All the Cd's I have seem too be indexed well. Guess cause they were made for mechanics.

I just received my $65 CD shop manual for my 4200, and my only complaint is that they didn't add bookmarks and hyperlinks to the table of contents to make getting to stuff quicker. Since I have Acrobat, I may add bookmarks and hyperlinks now and then to the copy I downloaded to my computer. Call that a winter time project.

Other than that, the PDF file is a high quality version of the $130 paper manual. If I was in the shop on a daily basis, I'd want paper that I can get greasy and make notes in the margins with. However, for my needs the CD will be fine and I can print out sections as I need them.

As for the parts manual, I suspect the PDF/paper version is easier to use than www.jdparts.com ; but once you learn how to use their convoluted web site, it's cheaper than buying the CD/paper parts catalog.
