Mowing JD No. 3 or 5 Sickle Mower on a JD 2210?

Hello all. I really enjoy this forum. Has anybody put an older model sickle mower on a JD 2210 or 2305? What are my limitations, HP, weight, width? I am contemplating buying one but don't want to waste the money. I used to run a No 3 on a JD G growing up but that is a significantly larger tractor in every aspect.

I grew up using a farmall A with a 7 ft sickle bar mower and that only had 16 hp. It had plenty of power for the mower and we cut 10,000 square baled with it for years. Hope this helps with your question, I would think you could run a 7 ft haybine with no problems.

Yes, I also mowed with a Super C with a 2pt sickle mower. Just a bigger footed tractor to run that mower. Wondering if anyone has done it with a small CUT.

All I know is that this summer my boss bought a used 3 pt NH 7 ft bar cutter to use on the new JD 4320 down at the apple orchard. I hooked it up and no matter how I adjusted it every time I raised it would hit the lift arm links. Wasted my day! Made him get a manual and the manual lists a part number for a special NH toplink adapter to move the toplink connection point away from the tractor or suggest you can chop back the notched adjuster bars the yoke slides on to shorten them so they wont hit. But that would limit its adjustments for a different tractor. Hooked it up on the 2855 orchard tractor just fine though. New CUT 3 points have their limits I guess.

Youtube has a clip showing a guy using a 2005 JD 2210 with a No. 5 mower to mow hay. The tractor has a quick hitch on the three point lift. Search making hay for the clip.

The 3 pt pins on the #5 mower were a farmer alteration as mower didn't come from factory with 3 pt option. I remember mowing in my youth with a JD '36 B & #5 mower. I made the corners by spinning steering wheel to the right and stepping on RH brake pedal and made a purty square corner never stopping.
