OK, my JD hydraulic caps are in need of replacement, but the best price I see for a set of (8) colored caps is $25, seems high considering a couple pennies worth of material. Any alternatives/generics?

CA-plugs might have what you need.

I've been down the path before and there aren't really any cheap alternatives. The JD parts hold up pretty well so I would suggest you just swallow hard, pay the price and forget about it for the next 15 years or so.

As Kenny posted. Just pony the $25 up. I bought cheap caps for my Kubota, they lasted less than a year before they stretched out, shrunk or split.

At about $3.00 a piece, it does not appear JD is much higher than other suppliers on line.

Last time I check at TS they were $5/each. So $40 sounds reasonable.

Pioneer and Safeway caps are good quality also. However at $3.13 a piece for caps I would just buy them. That is stupid cheap for caps.

My JD ones didn't last as long as I figured they should. Got hard and brittle.

I would go to a hydraulic supplier and buy Parker or similar quality.
