Now that I have found a JD 71 planter. I am missing parts that I need to find. Does anyone know where I can find the drive chains, new or used hoppers and springs and seed plates. See picts.

Thanks

Drive chains....any bicycle shop. Yep...

Seed boxes and misc. hardware are same as just about any Deere plate-type planter. Shop for a junk/donor planter. 246/247, 494/495, 290/490, ect. I have a set of the fiberglass seed boxes and a set of older smaller steel boxes for mine. The old steel boxes are off of a 246 I scrapped out a few years ago. There's ONE box on ebay now.

Seed plates are easy to come by. Lincoln Ag sells 'em new. (About $12 each) Hundreds of 'em on EBAY. Get yourself a #71 parts manual too. EBAY again.

Many of the parts are still available through Mother Deere (at a mind numbing price no doubt) Yetter, who made the #71 for Deere, now has manufacturing rights. They sell their own rendition of the planter. I'm sure you could order replacement parts through them also. Once again, get ready for a major case of sticker shock though.

Deere has most of the smaller parts available for not too much $$. I ended up replacing a few springs and such on my two row 71, and I don't think anything was too outrageous. Oh, except for one of the gears that turns the seed plate. The one gear was something like $25 or $30!

Anyway, your local Deere parts counter should know the thing by heart. They'll be able to get you going.

I have excellent hoppers that I sell for $100 and ones with a bit of rust on them but will last for many years at $50. I have the other parts that you need too, including the chains and springs, etc. Let me everything you need and I can give you a bid.
