Price Check JD rear mount snowblower 66 inch PTO driven

770 is a collarshift (non-synchro gear transmission). As long as it has a 2-stage clutch (probably does if it's MFWD), it'll be pretty easy to control the ground speed (which is pretty slow in reverse, low range).

Good question about the category though. Adapters are available.

What is a 2-stage clutch.??

What is a 2-stage clutch.??

A 2 Stage Clutch (aka Dual Stage Clutch) actuates both the traction transmission as well as the PTO transmission.
Pushing the clutch about halfway down disconnects the tractor's engine from the gears to allow shifting (just as you do with an automotive transmission).
Pushing the clutch all the way disconnects the tractor's PTO transmission gearing to allow both engaging and disengaging the PTO. BTW, this is referred to as a "live PTO".
Can't beat this type of clutch for engaging something like a rotary cutter. Downside is they're right expensive to replace ($1500 or so)

Ah ha. Good explanation.

I clutch all the way to the bottom when shifting gears. Am I doing any harm.??...I think not.

Nope...no harm. At worst case, the driven implement might slow a bit. You wouldn't even notice it with a rotary cutter...probably would with a ground engaging implement like a tiller.

got a SB1164, 64 inch frontier for 2399 new if that helps you price it.

That's tempting! I really want a front mount blower but the 59" is twice what you paid for a bigger rear blower.

I was just out today bush hogging around my spruce trees doing a lot of backing up and my neck is still sore but sometime money makes sore bones feel great!

Yup, new from the local JD dealer....Hammond Tractor.

He originally quoted me $2,000 for the Frontier 54" which I ruled out. I asked for a price on the 64" and he came back with $2,100. I was like "done deal."

It ships from their Auburn store up to the Fairfield store next Wednesday. I'll pick it up next Thursday or Friday. I did say I needed to look at it before purchase but I don't expect any problems.

Another good thing is...I am going to finance a portion of the purchase through Deere and Deere came back to me with $10,000 credit...which gives me comfort knowing if my clutch goes or I need new Ag tires I've got Deere credit. This was all done over the phone in like 5 minutes.

Very reputable dealer here in central Maine.

The thing I like about a rear mount other than the price, is it also allows you to keep your bucket on the FEL. The bucket can be very handy in the winter time to drop it next to garage doors out structures and back the snow out. Its also good for tackling huge drifts or knocking them down a bit so the blower has an easier time.

Can anyone give me some advice on selling a used 66 inch PTO driven rear mount John Deere Snow blower that is about 30 years old? Mounts to a tractor. Made in Canada. Serial number W00666X002032J

It has a bit of cosmetic rust on it but is otherwise in excellent working condition. The shute has a 10.5 inch throat opening.
I would like to sell this and am in north/central WI (Tomahawk).

After calling around to local dealers, they said that it should sell for $1500 and it is a model 666 thrower.
