In my opinion, the old JD stuff made in the USA is awefully tough to beat for service life, support and collectability. But, you are going to PAY for that as well.
The IH/Farmall stuff made here is less costly, very capable but yes, parts can be a tougher situation in some cases.
If you are comparing stuff from say '85 up, and looking at under 45 HP equipment, I write off JD because too much of the units in thaat market segment are simply up-priced Asian import stuff painted green. If I wanted an Asian tractor, I would buy one.
Orange is good, especially in the SCUT/CUT market, low initial cost and pretty reliable over the 10 year/1k hour window. But they are not engineered for heavy work, IMO.
for heavy work you need a heavy tractor and those are tough to come by in today's world. You are essentially looking at 45 PTO HP units and larger from JD, CHN, MF or Mahindra.
