Has anyone had any experience with this garden tractor?
I was wondering how the yanmar performs.

A friend of mine has an X595 uses it for commercial mowing (6-8 hours a day every day), he just loves it. Yanmar makes a great diesel engine. He has had no problems with it, said it sips fuel. Great little tractor but a bit over priced in my opinion. I bought a JD 2210 for less money. He preferred the X595 because of no ROPS and the slightly smaller size. Also has a much more comfortable seat than the 2210.

First of all, I have no direct knowledge with this tractor other than I am leaning on down grading my buying decision from the 4310 to the X-595. My reasoning for the down grade is because I was originally going to clear my 6+ acres, but I have run out of time and had to hire a dozer to do the bulk of this "heavy" work. So now all I have left to do is some finish work and then all I really need is to get the lawn going and maintain the lawn and driveway. I also have a "if they make it, I MUST have it" type of personality and they only make so much stuff for this smaller tractor. Most of these fine TBNers would at least like you to know that you can get the 2210 for about the same price at a comparable equipped X-595. I personally like the warm fuzzy feeling I get when I know I have the "top dog" as apposed to the smallest in a line up. Yea, I know I'm a little strange, but when it all comes down to it, you need to have a machine that will do what you need it to and what gives you the best "feel".

I noticed the other day that John Deere is offering some of the X-series (including the X-595) in a "special edition" trim. It includes a comfortable looking seat with adjustable arm rests, front wheel mud flaps, brush guard, HDAP tires on special rims and the 62C mower deck all for a price that is reasonable higher than the standard model. I plan on talking to my dealer this weekend to get more info.

I am still waiting for my dealer to get the Limited Edition X Series in stock so I can see them. The X-595 is a great machine. I think you would really enjoy it. My 4300 worked well mowing the open parts of our yard but the roll bar is too tall to get under tree limbs and the like. Even with a folding ROPS it would be a challenge not to scratch the tractor going under the trees.

I have a 595 and am satisfied with it. Have the 54" deck, 3ph, grill guard, 51" front blade w hydraulic 4 way control. It definitely has some quirks, pluses, and minuses.
If you want specifics, let me know.

I am looking at getting the X-595 Special Edition (3ph and rear 540 PTO) with a 62C MMM, 45 FEL, 48" box scraper, 647 tiller, 40 gallon tow sprayer, 175 pound capacity spin spreader, 18 cubic foot cart and the proper weighs to balance it properly. Right now I'm having some local dealers price this package out for me. I would very much like to have your opinion on my set up sense you have first hand knowledge. You also have me curious about your "It definitely has some quirks, pluses, and minuses" statement. I'd like to know any specifics you can give me.

My X595 is used mostly for cutting grass, both around my house where the yard is on a 15% slope, and on a walnut grove (125 4 yr old walnut saplings on grid), plus snow plowing. Occasional use of a spreader and an aerator on the 3ph.
The Yanmar diesel works super. The HST and 4wd are great. The seat is comfortable. It is a fine mowing machine; the mowing deck is as good as they come. If you expect to use it for tractor-type work extensively, you may be disappointed.
It is approx 1000 lbs before loading up with operator etc. I have tried several jobs in which the lack of weight limited what I could do. For example I put a light boom pole on the 3ph to move some medium sized logs -- couldn't do it - the front end came off the ground. Also, I can't push much dirt with the front blade unless it is dry and fluffy, and definitely can't dig into established ground to landscape.
The 3ph is availalbe in category 1, but all 3 arms are short, and limited in what they fit. The swing limiters (?) are little chains normally used for cocker spaniel leases. You have to disconnect them to hook up any attachment. Lift capacity is marginal; lift height is minimal.
The tractor's ground clearance is less than most any CUT.
And finally, the biggest design screwup I have ever seen, which causes overheating problems:
The radiator and fan are mounted behind the engine. Air is drawn in thru 3 grills, 2 on either side of the cowling near the rear, and one large one that is under the steering wheel. And this puppy pulls a lot of air thru those grills. Unfortunately, the location of these grills is such that they suck up gobs of cuttings and debris thrown up by the mowing deck. Maybe if I cut my grass religously like the experts (Scotts,etc) advised, so only 1/3 of the grass blades are cut... I'm off the subject.
Anyway, I get considerable grass, leaves, etc that get blown from under the deck; they are sucked onto the grills. If the fan/grills were up front like most tractors, this wouldn't happen. So the result is that the grills get clogged, and air flow into the radiator is impeded. Worse, considerable amounts of debris gets thru the grills and build up on an interior screen just in front of the radiator. When that happens, the engine temp SOARS !!! Before you know it, the temp gauge is in the red.
JD has issued an advisory on this problem, noting that numerous owners have encountered damage due to unnoticed overheating. Their resolution is for the operator to be more diligent in regularly cleaning both exterior grills and interior screen -- duh.
I check these all the time while mowing, and change oil more frequently.
That's some initial thoughts -- hope I didn't throw cold water on your plans. I have a JD4700 for moving, pushing, digging, etc. The X595 is great for mowing, fine for small jobs, has great 4wd, but is marginal for anything bigger. It's not a CUT, and will not do things that even a small CUT can do easily.

Thanks for the valuable info, I was looking for an honest answer and it looks like you gave me just that /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I will keep an eye on the temp gage if I end up going with this setup. I will use this to build a suitable lawn and then to just maintain it.

I know what you mean. At least with the 595 set up you can see the build up right in front of you (this was the same air flow set up on my 332). With the 2210 you have to get off the machine to see the build up. I think that any of our smaller tractors are going to see some of this when mowing real dry stuff.

I had a JD755, JD955, and JD1070 before I got the 4700. Always used a rear/3ph mower with these CUT's, so I never had any problems with grill blockage (pretty logical); the grills collected dandelion fluff and bugs, mostly. So that would be an unfair comparison. Don't know whether a MMM would be been more prone to the problem.
However, before the 595, I had JD lawn/garden tractors with cooling system in the front of the engine compartment (LX-178 and 345), and didn't have issues with grill clogging/overheating.

Those mowers are Kawasaki V-Twins with the radiator mounted on top like my bros 320(great machine). Anyway on the 322 and x series the radiator is behind the motor so there is not much space to clean it off easily and when I had to mow with a 322 at work it would over heat a lot because the side grills would clog up and so would the radiator. If it was out front like a compact tractor I feel it would be easier to clean since there would be more room to work. Your 1070 was a sweet machine! The blow up from mid mount mower does throw clippings right into the motor area and that's why if your not careful you may start an engine fire by the exhaust pipe that comes down and out the fron of the machine. On my bros 320 we almost had a fire because of leaves that got thrown up and were on the pipe. Now he cleans it out often with a stick when mowing.

I truly loved my 955 and the 1070. A fantasy of mine is to have back the 955 and 1070, plus a bigger ute such as a 5420. Each with its own set of attachments. A friend once said the ideal setup is to have every attachment have its own tractor.
I traded the 1070 for a 4700 HST because it wasn't a good mowing machine. The gears did not allow for ground speed that matched my mowing needs -- it had a serious gap between low (1) and mid (2) range speeds, which was right where I needed to mow when running the rear pto at the required 540 rpm to drive the mower deck.

I hear ya on the gear thing. Sometimes I wish I had more than 9 gears or a hydro for getting an in between speed. Sometimes it seems like I go too slow and use too much gas or go too fast and get a bad cut in different mowing conditions. But I ain't trading in anytime soon that's for sure. The 'ol pocket book won't allow any more tractor trades for a good long while.
